Wiki Currently Under Major Revision
This is not perfect documentation. This is a shared space for us to keep the most helpful and accurate things each of us knows or learns about our tools. We need your help! Trash Management
Trash is serious business. If everyone does their part, we will have an amazing space, but if everyone leaves a little mess, it becomes a big mess quickly!
Safety First!
- DO NOT POUR CHEMICALS INTO THE SHOP SINK OR INTO TRASH CANS.
- RAGS WITH OIL OR WOOD STAIN CAN BE A FIRE HAZARD - DO THE RIGHT THING - DO NOT PLACE THEM IN A TRASH CAN!
- If it is hazardous waste, please dispose of it properly. You can take it to your local haz waste drop-off location.
Guidelines
- Take your food trash to the dumpsters, or take it home. Don't leave it for someone else to smell.
- Take your wood scraps to the dumpsters! No one wants to fight with a heavy, pointy trash bag!
- If you see a full trash can, please take it to the dumpster and replace the bag.
- If the trash cart is full, please take it to the dumpster.
Trash Bags
- Large shop trash can bags should be in cardboard boxes on the shelf in the woodworking shop near the yellow toolbox. (A pic would be really nice)
- Smaller trash can bags should be available in the bathroom in shop b behind the Audrey laser.
- Backstock of trash bags is stored in the office. If we are out of bags in the above spots, please used slack and post in #mfx-needs-attention
Trash Cart
The blue trash cart can be used to transport trash bags, wood scraps, etc. to the dumpster. If it is raining, then you can leave the bag in the trash cart - but if you CAN take it out, PLEASE do.
Dumpsters
At one time, we had recycling dumpsters, but people suck and they filled them with regular waste, so we no longer have recycling dumpsters.
